CHAPEL HILL, N.C.-Old Dominion scored with 25 seconds remaining in Saturday's field hockey game to hand North Carolina its first loss of the season, 1-0. ODU's Laura Steadman capped a defensive battle with the game's only goal, seconds before the end of regulation. Both second-ranked UNC and third-ranked ODU now have 5-1 records.

"Hopefully, we'll learn from this game," UNC coach Karen Shelton said. "I felt good about the way we played today. We followed the gameplan defensively and did a good job there, but we have to do a better job offensively."

Neither team mounted many threats, with a total of just seven shots on goal in the game. UNC had seven penalty corners, while ODU had six.

UNC is in action again on Sunday, hosting Virginia at 1 p.m. at Francis E. Henry Stadium. The Cavaliers are ranked No. 7 in the nation, with a record of 3-1. Each of the first 75 fans to arrive at Sunday's game will receive a free water bottle.
