Following a stellar career as a UNC goalkeeper, Jana Woolley is in her eighth season as a Tar Heel assistant coach. A two-time All-America selection, Woolley helped Carolina to NCAA titles in 1995, '96 and '97. In the 1996 championship game against Princeton, she earned a 3-0 shutout. Her goals allowed average that season was 0.61, the best in the nation. Her 46 career shutouts still stand as a UNC and Atlantic Coast Conference record, and her 14 shutouts and goals against average of 0.43 in 1994 both are tied for the school and ACC records. Then known as Jana Withrow, Woolley earned All-America and All-ACC honors in her junior and senior years and was named All-ACC in 1995, '96 and '97. She earned a spot on the All-NCAA Tournament team as a sophomore in 1995. A former member of the U.S. National Team, Woolley earned her UNC degree in 1998. In June of 2005, she married Matt Woolley, whose sister, Abbey, played field hockey at UNC from 1998-2001. Matt earned his Ph.D. in economics from UNC in May and is now a research analyst at Moody's in New York. |
