McIntee, Spinks Named National Scholar Athletes

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - North Carolina rowers Lisy McIntee and Adriann Spinks have been selected as National Scholar Athletes by the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA). The award recognizes student-athletes with a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher who participated in 75 percent of the team's races in the spring of 2006. Sophomores, juniors and seniors are eligible. McIntee, a sophomore All-Atlantic Coast Conference selection from Bala Cynwyd, Pa., is majoring in peace, war and defense. Spinks, a junior from Francisco, N.C., is majoring in exercise and sport science. Both raced in the varsity eight, UNC's top boat, in 2005-06. Spinks earned the CRCA honor for the second year in a row. A total of 135 student-athletes representing 50 schools were honored. McIntee and Spinks were among 13 ACC student-athletes honored, joining five from Clemson, four from Boston College and two from Virginia.
