Tar Heels Add Seventh Freshman To Class

May 4, 2004

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - The University of North Carolina rowing program has added a seventh recruit to its freshman class for 2004-05, signing Sarah Low to a National Letter of Intent. Low is from Alexandria, Va., and has competed for T.C. Williams High School for the last four years.

"We are excited to have Sarah join our freshman class for next year," UNC coach Sarah Haney said. "She adds more strength and determination to an already powerful class. Sarah is also very intelligent and we feel that Carolina is just the right place for her. We look forward to working with her and the other incoming freshmen this fall."

Low, her team's MVP in 2003, rowed in boats that finished sixth at the Stotesbury Cup Regatta in 2003 and fourth at Nationals in 2002. She joins six rowers who signed letters of intend with UNC during the fall period: Lucy Barrios (Tallahassee, Fla.), Kathryn Daly (Saratoga, Calif.), Lydia Howard (Lewes, Del.), Gretchen Klatte (Moorestown, N.J.), Elisabeth McIntee (Bala Cynwyd, Pa.), and Maegan Wareham (Carmel, Ind.).
