Rowing Selects Yoder, Haythorn For MVP Honors

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - The North Carolina rowing team recognized outstanding squad members and celebrated the 2002-03 season Saturday evening at its annual banquet. Senior Lauren Yoder was recognized as the varsity squad MVP, while Laura Haythorn was named novice MVP.

Coxswain Terry McCloskey earned Most Improved honors for the varsity, while Dana Merritt earned Most Improved honors for the novice team.

The Coach's Award went to varsity rower Michelle Hall and novice rower Sarah Stargel.

Awards for Fastest 2K went to Jess Ziebell for the varsity and Haythorn for the novices.

Emily Dondero was the winner of the novice squad's Spirit Award.

The team's lifting awards went to Mary Miller (varsity) and Jenny Cox (novice).
