Serving as host for its only home race of the season, the UNC rowing team welcomed Georgetown and Indiana to Lake Wheeler in Raleigh on March 27. The morning of racing produced two wins for the Tar Heels, by the novice four and the second varsity eight.

After UNC took the novice four and Georgetown won the varsity four, UNC finished third in the novice eight race. The second varsity eight earned another Tar Heel win. UNC pulled past Indiana to win in a time of 6:59.46.

Friends, family and fans looked on from the dock. The UNC second novice eight took third behind two Georgetown boats. Freshman Sara Bentley did double duty, rowing in both the novice eight and second novice eight.

Sophomore Sarah Stargel rows in the Tar Heel varsity eight. UNC rowers Grace Wallenborn, Amanda Snow and Jess Ziebell Carolina's novice eight took second, ahead of Georgetown but behind Indiana.

UNC's victorious novice four prepares to dunk its coxswain, Regina Elwell. Coxswain Regina Elwell takes the traditional post-win plunge. The UNC second varsity eight, also a winner on the day, tosses coxswain Lauren Portnow.

UNC head coach Sarah Haney is pleased with the day's results.
