PHILADELPHIA - The North Carolina rowing team closed out its 2008-09 season Saturday at the Dad Vail Regatta, racing on the Schuylkill River. Four of the five Tar Heel boats that raced on Friday advanced to Saturday's competition, with three in morning semifinals and the second varsity eight advancing to an afternoon final.

The top two boats in each semifinal advanced on to the finals, but the Tar Heels did not place first or second in any of their races. The novice eight had the highest semifinal finish, placing fourth in 7:00.93. The novice four was fifth in its semi in 8:30.93. The varsity eight was sixth in its semifinal, finishing in 6:54.82.

In the second varsity eight final, UNC placed sixth in 7:19.88.
