Undecided on a major Rowing at UNC: Spent the fall of 2003 on the novice squad and was pulled up to varsity for the spring Before UNC: At Tabor Academy, was a four-year member of the crew and field hockey teams … Named field hockey Most Valuable Player for 2002 and 2003 More on Harple: Born May 1, 1985 … Daughter of Caren and Dan Harple … Has four siblings … Favorite pastimes are photography, sailing, windsurfing and skiing … Career goal is to be a photojournalist … Says the word that best describes her is “eccentric” … If she could trade places with anyone for a day, she’d pick her 8-year-old sister … Spent last summer teaching sailing at summer camp and learning how to windsurf … Favorite sports besides rowing are sailing and field hockey … Two of her uncles race in the America’s Cup boats … Her brother, Cody, is a semi-pro cyclist and attends the University of Arizona Harple on rowing: Rowing at UNC has kept my life structured and focused. It keeps me motivated to stay healthy and push myself educationally. The rowing team is a close group of girls who encourage you to express yourself as well as being behind you and pushing you to do your best every practice. |
