CHAPEL HILL --- North Carolina (1-0) plays its second team from the state of South Carolina in as many games when the Tar Heels host Coastal Carolina Wednesday night at 7 at the Dean E. Smith Center. UNC defeated Palmetto Staters College of Charleston, 88-57, on Friday. Coastal Carolina (2-0) is coming off a 66-59 win at Campbell on Monday. Carolina is ranked No. 4 in both the AP poll and the coaches’ poll. Coastal is unranked.

COASTAL CAROLINA SERIES NOTES
• North Carolina is 12-0 all-time against Coastal Carolina.
• Wednesday’s game marks the sixth consecutive season in which the two teams have met. Carolina won back-to-back home games in 2004 and 2005, while the Tar Heels triumphed, 87-48, in Myrtle Beach in 2006, and 82-58 in Conway in 2007. The Chants were back in Chapel Hill in 2008, and Carolina rolled to a 95-44 victory behind 17 points from Italee Lucas and a Jessica Breland double-double.

Carolina’s overall home record since the beginning of the 2004-05 season is 85-3. The Tar Heels have won 39 of 40 in Chapel Hill, including their last 16 home conference games. In addition, UNC has won 79 of its last 80 non-conference home games.
CAROLINA IN THE SMITH CENTER
• UNC will begin its 2009-10 season in the Dean E. Smith Center while the renovations to Carmichael Auditorium are being completed.
• The Tar Heels are 37-10 all-time at the Smith Center and have won 25 of their last 26 in the building.
