ACC Releases 2009-10 Women's Basketball Schedule

GREENSBORO, N.C. --- Eighteen home contests and a visit to defending NCAA champion Connecticut highlight the 2009-10 North Carolina women's basketball schedule as announced Friday by the Atlantic Coast Conference. The Tar Heels open the campaign at home against the College of Charleston on Nov. 13 at 7 p.m. Carolina will play on television 10 times during the upcoming season, including nationally-televised contests at Connecticut on Jan. 9 (CBS), at Duke on Feb. 8 (ESPN2), at Virginia on Feb. 15 (ESPN2) and home against Duke in the ACC finale on Feb. 28 (Fox Sports Net). After a pair of exhibitions against Francis Marion and Carson-Newman on Nov. 5 and 10, respectively, the Tar Heels will welcome the College of Charleston for the regular season opener on Nov. 13. Other notable non-conference action includes a trip to Las Vegas, Nev., on Nov. 22 to face UNLV and a visit to East Lansing, Mich., on Dec. 3 to face Michigan State as part of the third-annual Big Ten/ACC Challenge. The Tar Heels will also make their annual trip to Myrtle Beach over the Christmas break, with UNC meeting South Carolina on Dec. 20 at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center. Carolina opens league play on Jan. 6 against Georgia Tech before heading to face Connecticut the following Saturday. Once again, the ACC schedule features seven home games, with Georgia Tech, Maryland, Clemson, Florida State, Boston College, NC State and Duke set to visit Chapel Hill in 2009.
After this year's ACC Tournament in Greensboro, N.C., March 4-7, the Tar Heels will play a non-conference game before the NCAA field is announced for the second season in a row. Carolina will welcome neighbor North Carolina Central to Chapel Hill on March 14 at 3:30 p.m.
