Postcards from the Final Four

Hey Tar Heel Fans!

We are having a blast at the Final Four in Boston. Last night, we attended a banquet with the other three teams that are here. Of course, the Tar Heels arrived first and set the tone for the fashionable evening.

With the whole team dressed to impress, we got sized for our Final Four rings, with everyone choosing the bigger of the two ring choices. After trying on the rings, we hung out until dinner was ready.

Once the banquet was ready for our grand entrance, we headed into the large ballroom with a whole bunch of important people and fans. I felt like Miss America as we received a standing ovation on the way to our seats. While we were eating, Heather and I convinced Coach Hatchell to introduce us to Diana Taurasi. I know she played for Connecticut, but she's done a lot for women's basketball and is an amazing player, so forgive me for that!

After taking a couple of snapshots with Diana and talking with her a bit (she said she's pulling for us), we settled down for the Final Four program. As the highlight reel ran down all the previous national championships, a loud applause came over our table as the 1994 clip was played. Many fingers were pointing to Coach Smith-Taylor as she was shown knocking down "the shot."

The next part of the program was to introduce all four coaches and one player from each team. As Ivory Latta and Coach Hatchell made their way to the stage, I knew the next part of the program was going to evoke some laughter. In the middle of the question and answer section, the commentators stood up with a tape measure teasing Ivory about her height, but Coach Hatchell read off an even 5-7 as they checked Ivory's height.

As the question and answer session came to a close and the program wrapped up, we headed to the bus and back to the hotel for some rest and relaxation. Needless to say, the Tar Heels made an impression last night with our well-dressed team.

Stay tuned to the TV on Sunday and cheer us on as we take on Maryland in our quest for the National Championship!

Sincerely,

Meghan Austin

Hello from Boston!!!! First of all, I want to say that God is so good!!! What a blessing it has been thus far for us here at the Final Four! We have only been here since last night but so much has happened! We feel like the President or something. We have a police escort everywhere we go!! Cars just pull off on the side of the road and street lights don't even matter! Last night we were given some Nike gifts…WHOA! New sweat suits, new shoes, sunglasses, watches…etc! This experience is soooo exciting!! What a beautiful city for an event like this! This morning we have been doing some media things for ESPN at the arena and I have been able to meet all the people who commentate during our games for SportsCenter! I feel like a little kid all over again!! We want to thank all of you for your support throughout this season!! This is just one of our goals: being at the Final Four…we just have one more goal to accomplish…A NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP!!!! Also, a special thanks from the senior class…what a great ride it has been over these 4 years!! What an even better way to sum up our careers at UNC!!! Much love to everyone and God Bless!!
