Latta Named National Player Of The Year

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - North Carolina junior Ivory Latta has added to her postseason honors, being named national player of the year by Gballmag.com and the U.S. Basketball Writers Association (USBWA). The USBWA also named UNC's Sylvia Hatchell its coach of the year. Latta averaged a team-high 18.4 points for the Tar Heels, who finished 33-2 after making the program's first Final Four trip since 1994. She also was named player of the year by ESPN.com and was the winner of the Nancy Lieberman Award as the nations's top point guard. Latta has been named to several All-America teams, including Kodak, Associated Press and Wooden.
