Larkins Named Second-Team AP All-America

April 2, 2008

North Carolina seniors Erlana Larkins and LaToya Pringle were recognized on the Associated Press All-America team for their outstanding play during the 2007-08 season, the organization announced this week. Larkins, a forward from Riviera Beach, Fla., was named to the second team, while Pringle, a Fayetteville, N.C., product earned honorable mention.

Larkins, a finalist for the Wade Trophy, averaged 13.5 points and 9.5 rebounds in her senior season. She was a first-team All-Atlantic Coast Conference selection for the third year in a row and was named ACC Tournament MVP. Larkins, a third-team AP All-America last season, finished her career as the only player in ACC history with at least 1,000 points, 1,000 rebounds, 300 assists, 200 steals and 100 blocks.

Pringle, the ACC Defensive Player of the Year, averaged 14.6 points and 7.2 rebounds as a senior. Her 95 blocks on the year gave her 336 for her career, a new school record and the second-highest career total in ACC history. Pringle was a first-team All-ACC selection and was named to the ACC and New Orleans Region All-Tournament teams.
