CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. --- North Carolina (22-2, 9-0 Atlantic Coast Conference) plays its fourth road game in five outings when the Tar Heels travel to Charlottesville Friday to face Virginia at 7 p.m. at John Paul Jones Arena. Carolina is coming off a 75-61 win at Georgia Tech on Sunday. Virginia enters the contest with a record of 18-6 (6-2 ACC) after a 77-58 win over Florida State on Sunday. UNC is ranked No. 3 in both the AP poll and the ESPN/USA Today coaches' poll for the third straight week. Virginia is unranked, but is receiving votes in both polls.

VIRGINIA SERIES NOTES
• North Carolina is 41-31 all-time against Virginia, including an 11-18 mark in Charlottesville.
• After playing at least twice every season since 1981-82, Carolina and Virginia will play just once for the second straight year in 2008.
• UNC won the only matchup in 2007, a 96-62 victory in Chapel Hill.
• Carolina has won 10 straight in the series, the longest such streak for UNC against Virginia. The Tar Heels won nine straight from 1977-82. UVa's best run was 14 straight wins from 1987-92.
• Virginia's last win in the series was a 69-59 victory in Charlottesville in 2003.

NOTING THE CAVALIERS
• Virginia is 18-6 on the season (6-2 in the ACC) after beating Florida State, 77-58, on Sunday.
• Sophomore guard Monica Wright and junior forward Lyndra Littles lead the Cavaliers in scoring. Wright averages 16.9 points per game, while Littles adds 15.8 per outing.
• Junior center Aisha Mohammed leads Virginia with 9.4 rebounds per contest, while senior guard Sharneé Zoll recently became the third player in ACC history to reach 700 career assists.
• Virginia is led by 31-year head coach Debbie Ryan. Ryan (669 career wins) and UNC's Sylvia Hatchell (772) are both in the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame. They are also two of only three coaches in league history to reach 500 wins at an ACC school. NC State's Kay Yow is the other.

STREAKS
• Carolina has won 13 of its last 14 and has opened the season with nine straight conference wins. UNC has won three straight on the road.
• Virginia has won 12 of its last 14, with its only losses in that span coming against Maryland. The Cavaliers have won three straight at home.
