The Carolina wrestling team saw its first action of the season Saturday afternoon as it held its Blue-White intrasquad scrimmage in conjunction with its annual fall clinic. The Blue team defeated the White team 18-15 behind victories from Chuckie Connor, JohnMark Bentley, Corey Bell and Matt Kenny.

At 125 lbs., Connor defeated Chris Collins by fall. Bentley also won by fall as he pinned Dennis Landin in the 149 lbs. match. At 174 lbs., Bell defeated Mark Canty 5-0, and in the heavyweight match, Matt Kenny took a 5-2 decision over Ryan Adams.

For the White team, Brad Byers, Mike Booth, Jake Reynolds, Nick Richmond and Clint Osborn were victorious. At 133 lbs., Byers defeated John Paul Igoe 8-2. Booth defeated Andrew Slack 5-2 in the 141 lbs. match, and Reynolds won a 6-4 decision over Jason Wilson in the 165 lbs. match. Richmond beat Johnny Rich in the 184 lbs. match 7-1, and Clint Osborn defeated Venroy Tuly 9-2 in the 197 lbs. match.

In exhibition matches, Keith Bolte took a 13-4 decision over Justin Annas in a 133 lbs. match, Mike Starkey defeated Nick Royer 4-1 in a 141 lbs. match, and Pat Fox beat Warren Lamphiear 6-2 in a 174 lbs. match.

The Tar Heels kick off the regular season on Nov. 18 when they travel to Ithica, N.Y. for the Cornell Invitational and to East Stroudsburg, Pa. for the East Stroudsburg Open. Carolina then returns home to host the VerticalNet Open on Nov. 25.
