Mueller, Forshey Earn Preseason Rankings

Oct. 24, 2007

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - North Carolina wrestlers Keegan Mueller and Drew Forshey were each ranked among the nation's top 20 in their respective weight classes in the InterMat/NWMA/NWCA Preseason Division I Wrestling Rankings, which were released Monday.

Mueller is rated No. 17 at 165 pounds, while Forshey checks in at No. 19 at 125 pounds.

A junior from Dallas, Mueller led the Tar Heels with a 30-7 record a year ago, including a 13-2 mark in dual competition. He finished third at the ACC Championships, falling just short of all-conference honors and a trip to the NCAA Championships.

Forshey, a senior out of Hickory, N.C., was 21-8 a last season with a 14-2 dual record and a 6-0 mark against the ACC. He also finished third at the league championships in 2007. Forshey won the ACC title and qualified for nationals in 2005.

The Tar Heels are in the midst of preseason training and will open the 2007-08 campaign Nov. 11 at the Michigan State Open.
