CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - In preparation for a run at an Atlantic Coast Conference title and a strong showing at the NCAA Championships, the University of North Carolina wrestling team will face a challenging 2008-09 schedule, which includes 10 dual matches in Chapel Hill.

Due to the ongoing renovation of Carmichael Auditorium, the Tar Heels' home matches will be held at Eddie Smith Field House and Fetzer Gymnasium.

Highlighting the home slate will be the third annual ACC/Big Ten Clash Nov. 15. Joining UNC will be NC State and Virginia from the ACC and Illinois, Michigan State and Wisconsin of the Big Ten. Carolina will open the season the week before at the Nov. 8 NC State Open in Raleigh.

Following the ACC/Big Ten Clash, the Tar Heels will hit the road for more than two months before returning to Chapel Hill for seven straight duals in late January and early February. Highlighting this stretch will be ACC matches against Virginia (Jan. 23), Virginia Tech (Feb. 1) and NC State (Feb. 6) and a meeting with Big 12 power Nebraska Feb. 14.

Additionally, Carolina will travel to regular season events the Sprawl & Brawl in Binghamton, N.Y., the Reno Tournament of Champions, the Southern Scuffle in Greensboro and the Lone Star Duals in Grand Prairie, Texas.

UNC will close the season with the 2009 ACC Championships March 7 in Blacksburg, Va., and the 2009 NCAA Championships March 19-21 in St. Louis.
