Wrestlers Welcome Durham Children Back To School
Aug. 26, 2008
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - On the first day of classes last week, members of the North Carolina wrestling team took time out of their schedules to visit with Durham-area school children as a part of the Durham Rescue Mission's Back-to-School Party. The sixth-annual event is held to help underprivileged children obtain the necessary school supplies for the new school year. The Tar Heels wrestlers attended the Back to School Party Tuesday, Aug. 19, and worked at various carnival games and handed out prizes. The event included games, prizes, food and fun for area children, who received a backpack full of school supplies. "The wrestlers really enjoy visiting with the kids at the Children's Hospital at UNC each month and someone at Duke found out about this wonderful event and thought we would be a great addition for the Durham community at the Back to School Party," said head coach C.D. Mock. "I think they were right and we plan to go every year."
