Chapel Hill, N.C. - The University of North Carolina wrestling team will take part in its first action of the 1999 calendar year when it travels to Hampton, Va. for the Virginia Duals Friday and Saturday.

The two-day event features 24 college teams, including Carolina, N.C. State, Virginia, Michigan, Cornell, Rider, George Mason, Fresno State, Oregon State and Lehigh. Tournament pairings will be announced Friday morning. The event also includes many of the top high school teams in the country.

Carolina is coming off a strong performance Dec. 29 at the Sunshine Open in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., in which the Tar Heels finished second to Michigan in team points.

Carolinas Atlantic Coast Conference season begins next week when it travels to N.C. State on Wed., Jan. 13 and hosts Virginia on Fri., Jan. 15.
