The Maryland wrestling team (6-3, 0-2 ACC) fell to ACC leader North Carolina (10-2, 3-0 ACC) Saturday at Cole Field House, snapping the Terps' win streak at four. North Carolina took seven of the ten bouts to secure the win, keeping its conference record perfect.

North Carolina took an early, 4-0, lead after James O'Connor's 15-3 major decision over freshman John Antonelli at 157 pounds. Josh Weidman brought Maryland within one point with his 3-1 decision over UNC's Chris DiGuiseppe. The see-saw battle continued as North Carolina took a three point advantage following Mark Canty's, 11-7, decision over Mark Reid. The Terps cut into the lead after Jake Stork's 5-3 decision over Dustin Heist.

The Tar Heels pulled away, capturing the next four matches to secure the victory. Bob Vorhies lost to Nick Richmond, 13-4, at 197. In the heavyweight class North Carolina's Ryan Adams downed sophomore Jeremy Duncan by a 5-2 decision. Mike Lupa lost to UNC's Chris Rodrigues by a 14-4 major decision. Evan Sola of North Carolina decisioned Joe Guzzio 21-6 in the 133 pound weight class.
