At Mercyhurst (Pa.) College (2005-06): Played one year of Division II football at Mercyhurst College in Pennsylvania • Made 32 tackles at linebacker and recovered one fumble.
Prep: Two-time Ohio state place winner at Shaker Heights High School • Top finish was fourth as a senior in 2005 • Also played football for four years and earned all-state honors • Named Old Spice Red Zone national player of the year • Also honored as Cleveland's defensive player of the year and a Big 33 all-star.
Personal: Nicholas Kennedy Simon is the son of Bill and Margaret Simon • Born March 30, 1987, in Cleveland • Has three older brothers that all played college hockey • Brother Ben played at Notre Dame and in the National Hockey League • Father played football at Colgate • Plans to major in sociology at Carolina.
