Carolina Men's Tennis Team Signs Three Prospects This Fall

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - North Carolina men's tennis coach Sam Paul has signed another stellar recruiting class for the 2008-09 school year. Top-ranked juniors players Brennan Boyajian and Zach Hunter of Weston, Fla., and Cameron Ahari of Tucson, Ariz., have signed national letter of intents to attend the University of North Carolina, enrolling in August 2008.

Boyajian has been ranked as high as No. 3 in the country in the tennisrecruiting.net rankings. Boyajian has won three United States Tennis Association National Championships in singles. Boyajian won the most prestigious singles tilte in the country at the 2006 Boys' 16's National Championship in Kalamazoo, Mich. Last spring, Boyajian defeated Dennis Nevolo in the finals of the Spring USTA National Championships in Mobile, Ala. Boyajian chose UNC over Florida State, Georgia and Illinois.

Boyajian and Hunter are long-time doubles partners and both attended Cypress Bay High School in Weston, Fla. Hunter is currently ranked 39th according to tennisrecruiting.net. Hunter and Boyajian captured the 2006 National Clay Court Doubles title, 2006 Florida Doubles Championship and the National Open in Naples, Fla. The pair were also the No. 1 seeded team at the 2006 USTA Boys' 16's National Championships at Kalamazoo, Mich.

Cameron Ahari, a native of Tuscon, Ariz., is ranked No. 1 in the USTA Southwest Section and 30th nationally by tennisrecruting.net. Ahari who led Salpointe High School to the Arizona 5A state championship last year chose UNC over Illinois, USC, Pepperdine and Michigan.

"We have signed an outstanding group of student-athletes. They not only are great tennis players, but have great character. We look forward to having them as part of the Tar Heel family," Coach Sam Paul said.
