Luchici, Pomeroy Headed To NCAA Tourney As individuals

INDIANAPOLIS, IND. - The University of North Carolina's Raian Luchici and Brad Pomeroy were chosen last week to participate in the 2006 NCAA Division I Men's Tennis Championship as individuals. Luchici has drawn a No. 9-16 seed in the singles tournament while Luchici and Pomeroy are seeded in the No. 5-8 range in doubles. This year's national tournament is at Stanford, Calif. from May 24-29.

As a team, UNC is seeded No. 11 and the Tar Heels will host an NCAA regional at the Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center in Chapel Hill, N.C. on May 13 and 14. The Tar Heels will host MEAC champion South Carolina State Saturday at 9 a.m. while at-large bid recipients and arch-rivals Clemson and South Carolina will play the second match Saturday at 12 noon.

The winners of the UNC-SCSU and CU-USC matches will play Sunday at 1 p.m. The victor in that match will play in the NCAA Sweet 16 at Stanford, Calif. beginning on May 20.
