Tar Heels Host No. 8 Duke Wednesday

April 8, 2003

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - The No. 41 North Carolina men's tennis team will play host to No. 8 Duke Wednesday afternoon at 3 p.m. at the Cone Kenfield Tennis Center with Carlyle Cup points on the line. Free pizza will be served to those attending the match as well.

UNC currently trails Duke 18.5 points to 15.5 points in the 2002-03 Carlyle Cup race with points in only six sports remaining to be won. The all-sports competition, sponsored by Carlyle and Company Jewelers, will see three more points awarded to the winner of Wednesday's match. It takes 24.5 points to clinch the Carlyle Cup.

Duke has won 56 successive regular season dual matches against ACC competition. The last team to beat Duke was Carolina during the 1996 season.
