Tar Heel Tennis Team Tops Terrapins

COLLEGE PARK, MD. - No. 45 North Carolina beat the University of Maryland 6-0 in men's tennis action at College Park Friday afternoon. The match was played indoors because of inclement weather in the D.C. area.

UNC swept all six singles matches in straight sets. The doubles matches were cancelled due to mutual agreement of the coaches. Singles were played first as another match was waiting to go on the court at the conclusion of the men's match.

Carolina's Nick Monroe remained undefeated in singles in ACC action as he beat Chris Chiu 6-2, 6-1 at No. 2 singles. The Olathe, Kan. native is now 7-0 in ACC singles play.

The Tar Heels, 9-10 overall and 2-5 in the ACC, will play their regular season finale at NC State Sunday at 1 p.m. with the match being played in Cary, N.C. The Terps fell to 10-10 overall and 0-7 in the ACC.
