Tar Heels' Upset Bid Against Georgia Tech Falls Short

ATLANTA, GA. - Roger Anderson's three-set win at No. 1 singles over Trystan Meniane led the Georgia Tech men's tennis team to a 4-3 victory over North Carolina on Sunday afternoon at the Bill Moore Tennis Center in Atlanta, Ga. With the win, the Yellow Jackets improved to 11-3 overall and 3-1 in the ACC The Tar Heels lost their fourth match in a row and are now 7-6 overall and 0-1 in the ACC. After Tech claimed the doubles point in the match, the two teams split the six singles. The Yellow Jackets came from 39th-ranked Roger Anderson over UNC's #29 Trystan Meniane in three sets at #1 singles along with wins by Jason Pieters at #3 and West Nott at #5. UNC's Nicholas Monroe upset 69th-ranked Scott Schugg of Georgia Tech by a 7-5, 6-2 score at #2 singles and Carolina also got singles wins by Derek Porter at #4 and Geoff Boyd at #6. The Tar Heels will try to get back into the winning column next Saturday when the Tar Heels travel to Clemson to meet the Tigers at 1 p.m.
