UNC Men's Tennis Beats Wake Forest, 7-0

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. --The University of North Carolina men's tennis team won its sixth consecutive match, defeating Wake Forest 7-0. The Tar Heels won every singles match and won two of the three doubles to win the doubles point. Ranked No. 28 by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association, Carolina is now 9-2 overall and 2-0 in the ACC.
The Tar Heels were led by seniors Tripp Phillips and Assaf Drori, who captured wins at #1 and #2 singles. Junior Marcio Petrone won two tiebreakers in a three-set match to defeat Johan Hansen at #4 singles. David Cheatwood, Trystan Meniane and Chad Riley also added singles wins for Carolina.
In doubles action, Phillips and Tyne Brownlow fell to Wake Forest's Johan Hansen and Raul Munoz 8-2 at the #1 spot. Cheatwood and Ben Elix combined at #2 to defeat Mike Murray and Mike Berger 8-6, and Drori and Petrone won 9-7 at #3, beating Justin Kaufmann and Trent Brendon.
The Tar Heels will host No. 23 Notre Dame in a 1 p.m. match on Saturday, March 25, at the Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center.
