Eleventh ranked Texas lost the doubles point but rallied in singles to defeat North Carolina 5-2 Saturday afternoon in Austin. The Longhorns improve their record to 7-3, while the Tar Heels fall to 4-4.

North Carolina earned the early 1-0 advantage by recording wins at number one and two doubles. UNC's Greg Archer and Marcio Petrone defeated Jean Simon and Will Clayton 9-8 (8-6 in the tiebreak) to clinch the doubles point.

Carolina continued the momentum by winning the first set in three of the six singles matches. However, senior Chad Riley was the only Tar Heel to capitalize on the early success as he posted a straight set victory over Texas' Alastair Jenkin at number six singles. The Longhorns captured three set victories at number three and five singles to clinch the match. Saturday was the first time all spring that North Carolina earned the doubles point without winning the overall match.

North Carolina continues its spring break road trip on Monday against Rice, while Texas hosts Duke tomorrow in Austin.
