CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - The North Carolina men's tennis team swept all six singles matches in straight sets Saturday afternoon in defeating the West Virginia Mountaineers 7-0 at the Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center. The victory over the Mountaineers lifted the #34 Tar Heels to 3-1 on the campaign heading into a home match against Campbell University Monday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. the Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center. The #34 Tar Heel moved ahead 1-0 after doubles by claiming two of the three matches. The #3 doubles squad of Trystand Meniane and Daniel Pinchbeck quickly dispatched J.R. Randall and Anderson of WVU 8-0. The next match off the court saw Adam Marchetti and Tony Epkey of the Mountaineers hold off a late charge by UNC's Geoff Boyd and Nicholas Monroe, 8-6. But literally on the next point after the conclusion of the #1 doubles match the Tar Heel pair of Greg Archer and Marcio Petrone at #2 doubles beat Adam Paschalides and Chris Green of West Virginia 8-5 to clinch the point for UNC. The Tar Heels then dominated the singles play with West Virginia winning no more than three games in any set. Both Andrew Metzler at #5 singles and Daniel Pinchbeck at #6 singles won over the West Virginia opponents without dropping a single game.
