Carolina Men's Tennis Cruises By Campbell, 9-0

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - The University of North Carolina men's tennis team opened the spring home season with a 9-0 win over Campbell University. This was the Tar Heels' first dual match of the season.
In singles action, Carolina senior Tripp Phillips defeated Andreas Mardbrink, 7-6 (7-4), 6-2, at #1 singles. At #2, senior Assaf Drori beat Alexander Grupp, 6-4, 6-0. Carolina junior David Cheatwood beat Julian Tejada, 7-6 (7-4), 6-3, at the #3 slot, and sophomore Marcio Petrone defeated Hans Peter Gaber, 6-0, 6-2, at #4. At #5, freshman Trystan Meniane beat Sasa Ljumic, 6-3, 6-3, and at #6, junior Chad Riley defeated Loic Legoff, 6-0, 6-1.
In doubles action, Tripp Phillips and Marcio Petrone combined at #1 doubles to defeat Grupp and Tejada, 8-6. At #2 doubles, David Cheatwood and Trystan Meniane beat Mardbrink and Gaber, 8-6. Assaf Drori and Greg Archer combined at #3 doubles to defeat Ljumic and Legoff.
