Heels To Play For National Title Sunday

Dec. 12, 2008

FRISCO, Texas - Senior forward Brian Shriver scored just 3:56 into Friday's match to give North Carolina a 1-0 lead over top-seeded Wake Forest and goalkeeper Brooks Haggerty and the defense made it stand up at Pizza Hut Park in the first national semifinal of the 2008 College Cup. With the win, UNC advances to play for its second national title Sunday against Maryland or St. John's.

Zach Loyd assisted on the goal, which was the Tar Heels' quickest of the season. Stay tuned to TarHeelBlue.com for a full match report postgame.
