Callahan, Shriver Earn All-Region Accolades

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - On the eve of their national semifinal match-up with Wake Forest, North Carolina seniors Michael Callahan and Brian Shriver were honored Thursday with a spot on the 2008 NSCAA/adidas NCAA Division I All-South Region squad. Callahan garnered a first-team selection, while Shriver was named to the second team.

Callahan, the Tar Heels' captain and a native of Cary, has 11 points on three goals and five assists from the midfield. He was a second-team All-ACC pick.

Shriver, a first-team all-league selection at forward, leads UNC with 13 goals and 31 points. His scoring totals are the most by a Tar Heel since 2005.

The Tar Heels return to action versus Wake Forest in the first of two national semifinals Friday at 5:30 p.m. Eastern at Pizza Hut Park in Frisco, Texas.
