Friday, November 9 Team Profile: The Terrapins are coming off a 4-1 win over No. 14 Virginia last Friday at home. Riding a current three-game winning streak, they are unbeaten in their last nine games with six wins and three ties during the stretch. Their last loss came at the end of September when they fell to No. 1 Wake Forest, 2-0. Boston College and Duke have handed Maryland their other two conference losses. Away from College Park this season, the Terps are winless with an 0-3-1 mark, having lost each ACC road game. Series History: Maryland owns a 38-21-3 all-time record against the Tar Heels. The latest matchup came last year at Fetzer Field where the two teams battled to a 1-1 draw. Ben Hunter scored the lone goal for Carolina, while Stephen King put in the equalizer for Maryland midway through the second half. Carolina's last win against Maryland came in 2003 at Fetzer Field with a 1-0 final. Rankings: Maryland is ranked No. 19 in the latest NSCAA/adidas National Poll. Coach: Sasho Cirovski is in his 15th year coaching at Maryland. He was named the 2005 NSCAA National Coach of the Year after leading the Terps to a national title that season. Maryland has reached six consecutive NCAA Tournaments under his guidance. Key Players: Sophomore Drew Yates leads the Terrapins in goals with eight despite taking just 18 total shots and just starting six of the team's 17 games. Senior Stephen King, who scored Maryland's only goal last season at Fetzer Field, leads the team and the ACC in assists with 12. King is fresh off a five-point performance against Virginia last Friday where he had three assists and a goal. He was also named this week's Player of the Week by the ACC, Soccer America, and College Soccer News. Freshman goalkeeper Will Swaim has started the past three games in goal and has allowed just two goals in that stretch. He currently owns a 0.65 goals-against average.
