No. 7 Carolina Looks For Bounce Back At Campbell
Oct. 27, 2008
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - No. 7 North Carolina plays its final non-conference match of the season Tuesday when it travels to Campbell for a 7 p.m. start at Eakes Athletic Complex. The Tar Heels (11-3-1) will look to put an end to a pair of streaks against the Camels (10-5-0), who have won eight straight matches and have also captured the last two meetings with Carolina. UNC is coming off a 3-2 double-overtime loss at Clemson Saturday night. Senior striker Brian Shriver netted his ACC-best 13th goal and added his second assist on a Billy Schuler goal in the defeat. Campbell is fresh off a 1-0 win over East Tennessee State to clinch the Atlantic Sun regular season title with its eighth straight victory. Tuesday's tilt will mark the 20th in the series between the Tar Heels and Camels. Carolina holds a 14-4-1 lead but has dropped two straight to Campbell - 1-0 in Buies Creek in 2006 and 2-1 in Chapel Hill a year ago. Eddie Ababio scored the Tar Heels' lone goal against Campbell last year and he is second on the team with seven goals and 18 points. Shriver continues to lead the squad with 28 points, which shares the ACC lead with Wake Forest's Marcus Tracy. Carolina has 38 goals on the year and has scored at least twice in four straight games. The Camels feature a balanced offensive attack with five players with at least 10 points. Four Camels share the team scoring lead with 12 points, including Jason Keever, who has a team-high six goals. After Tuesday's match, the Tar Heels play their final regular season home contest Saturday against No. 1 Wake Forest. Carolina's senior class will be honored prior to the 7 p.m. match.
