Q&A: Cameron Brown

Oct. 8, 2008

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - An exciting playmaker, sophomore midfielder Cameron Brown scored his first goal in the Tar Heels' 2-1 over UNC Asheville and he shares the team lead with four assists this season. Brown, who recently took time to answer a few questions for TarHeelBlue.com, is from Garland, Texas, and hopes to pursue a career in professional soccer.

TarHeelBlue.com: You have a tough ACC schedule coming up, what is the team doing to prepare?
Cameron Brown: We are focusing, practicing and during the week we are just getting focused for the next game on the schedule.

THB.com: What are the team's goals for the remainder of the season?
CB: We want to win the ACC. We also want to keep the losses at two and win the rest of our games. We want to get in to the NCAA tournament since we did not make it last year

THB.com: Why did you choose UNC?
CB: I wanted to get away from Texas and I had been following UNC since I was freshman in high school. I always knew they had a great soccer program; plus it is a great academic school as well

THB.com: Do you have a pre-game ritual?
CB: I usually just go to the pre-game meal and then get to the locker room early and jam (listen to music).

THB.com: What is your favorite Carolina soccer moment?
CB: I have two. One is when I scored my first goal for Carolina in the Old Dominion game last year, and the other was when we beat Duke with Adeleye's goal in overtime.

THB.com: Where is your favorite place to eat on Franklin Street?
CB: Qdoba because it is open really late, and my dad got me a Qdoba card.

THB.com: What's the best thing about Carolina?
CB: It is the best place to be all the time. Every day is fun, even though there are classes. It is just fun to be apart of it.

THB.com: What did you do to improve your game in the offseason?
CB: I played a lot with a PDL team and also with my club team in the youth national championships, which we won, and I ran a lot (a lot).

THB.com: What did you do for fun this summer?
CB: I went to the lake on July 4th and I played with my dogs a lot. THB.com: What is the best advice you've ever received and who gave it to you?
CB: Keep going and never say that it is too hard - My brother

THB.com: What is your favorite movie?
CB: Pineapple Express

THB.com: What are you going to be for Halloween?
CB: I don't dress up for Halloween. I just go out to eat, so I will be myself.
