No. 15 Tar Heels Look To Rebound Against Elon

Sept. 23, 2008

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - No. 15 North Carolina will look to bounce back from its first loss of the season Wednesday when it hosts Elon at 7 p.m. at Fetzer Field. A webcast of the in-state matchup between Tar Heels (5-1-1) and Phoenix (2-4-1) will be available live and on-demand through ACC Select.

Last time out Carolina suffered a 4-1 loss at Boston College after opening the season with a six-match unbeaten streak. Junior forward Eddie Ababio, who is tied for second in the Atlantic Coast Conference with five goals, scored the only goal for the Tar Heels against the Eagles. The Tampa native has scored in two straight games.

Behind Ababio, who has nearly matched his career-scoring total through just seven games this year, UNC has outscored its opponents, 15-8, this season.

Elon, which is coming off a 2-1 loss to William & Mary in its last outing, has scored seven goals on the year, while yielding eight. Justin Wyatt leads the Phoenix with five points on two goals and an assist.

The Tar Heels are 10-0-1 all-time against Elon with the tie coming last year on the road. This will mark the fifth straight season the teams have met.

Following Wednesday's match, UNC will host East Tennessee State (4-2-0) Saturday at 7 p.m. The first-year Buccaneers handed Elon a 1-0 loss Sept. 14.
