Box Score

DURHAM, N.C. - Duke junior Danny Kramer scored the last of four goals in the final 18 minutes of play with just 1:17 left in regulation to lift No. 2 Duke (11-0-0, 3-0-0 ACC) to a 3-2 come-back win over North Carolina (2-5-2, 1-1-0 ACC) front 6,350 Sunday at Koskinen Stadium.

Kramer's game-winning goal at the 88:43 mark came on a diving header at the far post off a Blake Camp assist. The Blue Devils, who outshot the Tar Heels 11-2 in the second half, scored three times in the final frame after Carolina took a 1-0 lead into intermission.

The Tar Heels got on the board first with a little help from the Blue Devils in the 16th minute. Sophomore forward Jamie Watson, who pressured the Duke defense for much of the first half, dribbled into the middle of the box and lost control of the ball, but the Blue Devil back line was unable to clear it. Watson then regained possession and fired a shot that Blue Devil defender Tim Jepson sent into the net in an attempt to clear the ball.

Watson nearly gave the Tar Heels a two-goal lead in the 27th minute when he sent a shot past Duke goalkeeper Justin Trowbridge, but the Blue Devils' Michael Videira made a diving back save to prevent the goal.

Holding the 1-0 lead at intermission, the Carolina defense withstood pressure from Duke for much of the second half until Owoicho Adogwa knotted the score at one with a goal at the 72:26 mark. After dribbling into the box from, Adogwa beat Tar Heel keeper Justin Hughes, who came out of the net about 10-yards to try to make the stop, and sent the ball towards the far post for the game-tying score. Camp assisted on the goal.

Adogwa struck again and gave Duke a 2-1 lead at the 79:44 mark with a one-timer from about six yards out past Hughes. The goal, which came off assists from Spencer Wadsworth and Kyle Helton, was Adogwa's second of the night and fourth of the season.

Just over four minutes later, the Tar Heels got the equalizer as senior co-captains Tim Merritt and Ray Fumo hooked up to tie the score at two in the 84th minute. Fumo sent a low corner kick to the top of the box that Merritt collected and fired into the center of the net past Trowbridge.

Kramer's goal just five minutes later gave the Blue Devils the 3-2 win and one point in towards the Carlyle Cup, the all-sports competition between Carolina and Duke. The Tar Heels now hold a 1.5-1 lead in 2004-05.

Carolina returns to action at Fetzer Field at 7 p.m. Wednesday against UNC Asheville.
