Men's Lacrosse Team Puts Their Tools To Work For Habitat For Humanity

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - Fourteen members of the University of North Carolina men's lacrosse team spent Saturday, November 15 helping build a new Habitat for Humanity House that will soon be finished in Hillsborough, N.C. Senior defenseman Chris Cortina organized the endeavor on behalf of the team as he worked with Faith Gardner, the construction site supervisor for Habitat For Humanity of Orange County, N.C., in organized the volunteer effort. The 14 members of the team spent most of the day last Saturday putting the vinyl siding on the house, fixing and securing interior scaffolding and working on the framework of most of the doors in the new house which should be ready for occupancy in the next few months. The Tar Heel volunteers included a mixture of players from all four classes. The senior class was represented by Chris Cortina and Andrew Pyke. The junior class was represented by Sean Jackson. Sophomores Scott Bollert, Matt Davie, Mike Chires and Kevin Piegare also worked on the house. A large freshman contingent was also on hand. They included Mark Staines, Ryan Kotowski, Thomas Wood, Logan Corey, Charlie McComas, Jeff Muscatello and Gray Smith.
