CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - The 2008-09 University of North Carolina men's lacrosse team made a visit to the Ronald McDonald House in Chapel Hill on October 25 to help with one of the House's annual fund-raising projects. The entire team took part in the making of luminaries that will be used at homes, one sidewalks and lining streets in the Chapel Hill holiday season.

The making of luminaries may have been a new experience for the 46 members of Coach Joe Breschi's team. But it was a continuation of the team's multiple community projects undertaken this fall.

UNC lacrosse players also hosted several children and their families who have been patients at North Carolina Children's Hospital with a Carolina Dreams afternoon at the Tar Heels' football game with Georgia Tech last Saturday.

This Saturday, several Tar Heels will be running in the on-campus Eve Caraon Memorial 5K Run, honoring UNC's former student body president who was killed in a tragic incident last spring. This coming Saturday afternoon the Tar Heels will also be working on a Habitat For Humanity House in Hillsborough, N.C. while most of their fellow students will be attending the UNC-Penn basketball game or watching the UNC-Maryland football game on their TVs.

Coach Breschi has been very supportive of the team's community outreach efforts this fall and they will continue en masse in future years as well.
