The game was the season opener for the Bison while the Tar Heels fall to 1-1 on the season. Bucknell led 4-2 at the half but back to back goals by Steven Will and Tim Gosier scored goals for the Tar Heels in the first seven minutes of the third quarter to tie the game at 4-4. But Bucknell's defense shut out the Tar Heels the rest of the way and a goal by Andrew Sanders for the Bison with 7:21 to play in the third quarter put Bucknell up for good.
