Coach Joe Breschi on Sean Delaney General: A two-time returning letter winner who was named the most improved player on the 2008 team...played the first half of his freshman season as a backup on attack...he then switched to the midfield and played great down the stretch run of that season...continued in the midfield last year and is projected to run on UNC's first midfield unit this season...arguably the team's most physical player...a great dodger who has an uncanny ability to get his shot off. 2008 Season (Sophomore): Won the Kevin Reichardt Award as the most improved player on the 2008 squad...played in all 14 games and was the team's fifth-leading scorer with 20 points...scored 12 goals and had eight assists...had a team-high three game-winning goals...had a career-high four points in wins against Bellarmine and Johns Hopkins...had two goals and two assists in each of those games...had three points each against Providence (2g, 1a) and Maryland (1g, 2a)...had two goals and a career-high four ground balls against Notre Dame...also had two goals against Virginia. 2007 Season (Freshman): Played in all 16 games...was the team's eighth-leading scorer with 13 points...had 10 goals, one of eight players on the team in double figures in goal scoring...scored two goals in Carolina's NCAA Tournament quarterfinal win over Navy...his goal with 5:10 to play gave the Tar Heels an 11-8 lead in what ended up being a 12-8 victory...had a career-high three goals against Providence...scored a pair of goals against Vermont...came up big in the win over eventual NCAA champion Johns Hopkins with a goal and an assist.
