Nov. 19, 2007

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - North Carolina men's golf coach John Inman announced Monday the signing of one of the state's top golfers, Jack Fields from Southern Pines, N.C.

"We are ecstatic to have Jack join the Carolina golf program," says Inman. "Jack brings a competitive winning mentality that will serve him well during his days in Carolina Blue. He will truly be a great fit in our golf program."

Fields, a 2006 American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) All-America from Pinecrest High School, captured two AJGA championships in 2006, the Golf Pride Junior Classic and the Bridgestone Golf Junior Classic. He has carded 12 top-25 finishes in AJGA events during his junior career. In 2007, Fields posted six top-25 finishes, three coming in AJGA events. He also placed fifth at the North and South Junior, placed 12th at the Scott Robertson Memorial and tied for 15th at The Verizon Junior Heritage. Fields advanced to the Sweet 16 of the 2007 U.S. Junior Amateur after qualifying for the event the last three years.
