Carolina's O'Connell Selected Third Team All-America

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - University of North Carolina freshman Kevin O'Connell has been named to the PING AllAmerica Third Team announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America. Easrlier this week he was selected to the Division I men's golf All-Freshman Team.

O'Connell, this year's ACC Freshman of the Year, carded seven top-10 and nine top-20 finishes in Carolina's 11 tournaments this year. O'Connell boasts a 71.66 stroke average, the low for the team. He fired 14 scores under-par, 10 of those in the 60s. In addition, he posted seven even par scores. O'Connell, an All-ACC performer this year, has been Carolina's top performer in seven of 11 tournaments. He has also been chosen to participate in the U.S.-Japan Matches in Tokyo in July.
