AUGUSTA, GA. - The University of North Carolina men's golf team finished the ASU Invitational in 13th place after a 305 second round and a 316 final round. The second round score was the Heels' best for the championship. Charging ahead of East Tennessee State's first round lead was host Augusta State as they claimed the Invitational title. One stroke off the lead was Georgia led by Chris Kirk, this year's individual champion. Georgia Southern finished third and defending champ Minnesota joined East Tennessee State in a tie for fourth. Georgia's Chris Kirk shot a final round 70 and claimed this year's individual crown. Scott Jamieson finished three shots off the pace for Augusta State. First round leader Rhys Davies of East Tennessee State shot a 78 in the second round, but recovered with a 74 in the final round to land in third place with Georgia's Brendon Todd. Kalle Edberg and Emmett Turner joined Jamieson in the top 5, giving Augusta State three individuals finishing among the top. Sophomore Martin Ureta for North Carolina came off a first round 77 with a second round 74 and a final round 76. While Ureta finished in a tie for 11th, Tar Heel Ted Smith finished second for the Heels in 25th. Smith also shot a 74 in the morning round, but a tough final round 82 hurt his cause.
