Carolina Men's Golf Team Finishes Ninth At Schenkel E-Z-Go Invitational

Statesboro, Ga. - The North Carolina men's golf team finished in ninth place with an 889 total at the Schenkel E-Z-Go Invitational. The Tar Heels carded a 294 in the final round after posting 299-296 in the first two rounds. Duke topped the field of 15 teams after firing a two-under-par 286 in final round the for a four-over 868 total, one stroke ahead of Auburn which finished with an 869 total after posting a two-over 290 on the last day. Tennessee and Georgia tied for third place with 882 totals while host Georgia Southern finished fifth at 883. Mark Anderson of South Carolina and Jon David Kennedy of Georgia Southern were tied for individual medalist honors at the end of 54 holes. However, Anderson captured the title after a two-hole playoff with Kennedy. A trio of players tied for third place - Auburn's Patton Kizzire and Stuart Moore and Tennessee's Ross McGowan. Doug Kingston led the Tar Heels as he carded a two-over 74 in the final round for a three-over 219 total to tie for 12th place. Ted Smith was just one shot back at 220 in a tie for 16th place after firing an even par 72. Matt Crenshaw also tallied a final-round 72 for a 228 total and is tied for 48th place along with teammate Jonathan Jackson who posted a 76 on the final day. Martin Ureta shot 78 for a 229 total and is tied for 52nd place. The 54-hole event was played at Forest Heights Country Club which features a par 72, 6,962-yard layout. TEAM STANDINGS (54 Holes)
