North Carolina arrived in Charlotte on Monday for the first of six days in the Queen City as it prepares for a Dec. 27 Meineke Car Care Bowl meeting with West Virginia. Players, coaches and support staff convened at the Marriott City Center hotel at 3 p.m. to begin what is sure to be a fun-filled week of events leading up to game against the Mountaineers.

After holding a brief team meeting, head coach Butch Davis accompanied Garrett Reynolds, Kyle Jolly, Richard Quinn, Chase Rice and Deunta Williams to the Levine Children's Hospital. Davis and the players spoke to the kids, played games and signed autographs during the hour-long visit.

"This is what it's all about," said Williams, the Tar Heels' standout safety. "We are in a fortunate position to be able to do the things we do, like play football and go to a great University. Not all these kids can do that. Being here at the bowl allows us the unique experience to lift these kids' spirits and bring a smile to their faces. I really enjoy it."

Carolina will practice for the first time in Charlotte at 2:15 p.m. on Tuesday. In the morning, the Tar Heels will join West Virginia for the "Hot Laps" event at Lowe's Motor Speedway.
