After moving to the MD28, Connor Barth (10) makes a 45-yard field goal...
...to give Carolina an early 3-0 lead with 12:35 left in the first quarter.
Larry Edwards (32) upends Vernon Davis (18) for a 12-yard kick-off return to the MD20.
Derrick Fenner (83) cuts upfield on a 22-yard pass reception to the NC44.
Later in the drive, Lance Ball (44) picks up nine yards to the NC11 before being stopped by Kareen Taylor (27) and Tommy Davis (80).
On 1st-and-goal from the NC7, Durell Mapp (48) tackles Lance Ball (44) for a five-yard gain to the NC2.
After Sam Hollenbach (14) is stopped for no gain on a quarterback sneak on 3rd-and-goal-from the NC1...
...Lance Ball (44) runs around his left end...
...and into the end zone for a one-yard TD that gave Maryland a 7-3 lead...
...with 06:51 left in the first quarter. Ball's score capped off an 11-play, 80-yard drive that took 05:44.
