Nov. 11, 2000

"We didn't score enough points, although I though we played well. Our defense played very, very well, and our offense did enough good things where we could have won the game. We just didn't score enough points.

"We had lots of opportunities, especially in the first half, where we were in position to get points, but too many quarterback sacks knocked us out of field goal range. And then the stop down on the goal line was critical."

About the stop on the goal line:
"I just can't imagine him not getting in. Shaun's a big strong kid, but things just didn't go our way."

Asked about Curry's touchdown run:
"We had a blitz, and they got a hat on everybody. Sometimes there's a running lane and there's no depth to your running game. So that blitz would have given a lot of pressure if UNC had thrown the ball, but they had a good call and he's a good athlete.

"For the most part I thought we shut down their passing game, but we gave up the one touchdown."

After Maryland scored to go ahead in the fourth quarter:
"I thought we would still have to score another touchdown. I still felt we were going to have to get more points. I didn't want to have to sit on that lead.

"I thought we did a pretty good job. We had a huge lead in the time of possession. We also held them under 300 yards. Carolina might be one of the top two or three talented teams in the ACC."
