After a Virginia punt backed the Heels up to the NC6 with 04:50 left to play, Carolina gained just two yards on three plays, forcing David Wooldridge (45) to punt...

...to Emmanuel Byers (19) who returned the ball 13 yards to the NC38, giving the Cavaliers excellent field position.

After a 2-yard Marques Hagans (18) run to start their drive, Wali Lundy (33) takes a screen pass on 2nd-and-8 but is stopped for no gain.

On 3rd-and-8 from the NC36, Cedrick Holt (13) grabbed a ball that was deflected by Trimane Goddard (31)...

...for an interception that gave Carolina the ball at the NC23 with 01:23 left in the game.

On 2nd-and-15 from the NC16 with 01:04 left to play, Ronnie McGill (25) is stopped for no gain by Chris Gorham (39) and Brennan Schmidt (96).

On 4th-and-12 from the NC19 and just six seconds to play, David Wooldridge (45) gets off a punt to apparently end the game as UVA rushed eleven men.

As Coach Bunting and Coach Groh start to shake hands, a Virginia player yells to Coach Groh that there was a flag on the play.

The officials moved to the side and conferred with each other.

Coach Bunting watches as it is signaled that Carolina is called for illegal kicking of the ball.

The Tar Heels have to replay fourth down, but with 0:00 showing on the clock...
