North Carolina wins "Pontiac Game Changing Performance"

Oct. 3, 2008

Senior safety Trimane Goddard's interception in the end zone on the final play of Carolina's 28-24 victory over Miami has earned the Tar Heels a Pontiac Game Changing Performance.

College football fans voted the Tar Heels as the Pontiac Game Changing Performance for week five of the 2008 NCAA® Football Season. Voting began on Sunday morning and concluded at midnight on Wednesday. ESPN announced North Carolina's Pontiac Game Changing Performance win on Thursday night, during the Pontiac G6 Halftime Report.

As a result of their win, North Carolina will receive a $5,000 contribution from Pontiac to their general scholarship fund. Additionally, as one of the 13 weekly "Pontiac Game Changing Performance" winners, North Carolina has the opportunity to compete for the Pontiac Game Changing Performance of the Year. The play selected in fan voting as the best of the year will earn a $100,000 general scholarship contribution from Pontiac.

The Pontiac Game Changing Performance recognizes the most dramatic moments that occur in NCAA games across the country, moments that change the outcome or define a season. The program provides fans the opportunity to vote on the performance they believe is the biggest game changer. The competition began August 31 and will continue for the entire 2008 NCAA® football season.
